How Your Mind Works

Whatever your conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, your subconscious mind will accept and bring to pass. Believe in good fortune, divine guidance, right action, and all the blessings of life.

Ideas to Ponder:

1. Think good, and good follows. Think evil, and evil follows. You are what you think all day long.

2. Your subconscious mind does not argue with you. It accepts what your conscious mind decrees. If you say, “I can’t afford it,” your subconscious works to make it true. Select a better thought. Decree, “I will buy it. I accept it in my mind.”

3. You have the power to choose. Choose health and happiness. You can choose to be unfriendly. Choose to be cooperative, joyous, friendly, lovable, and the whole world will respond. This is the best way to develop a wonderful personality.

4. Your conscious mind is the “watchman at the gate.” Its chief function is to protect your subconscious mind from false impression. Choose to believe that something good can happen and its happening now. Your greatest power is your capacity to choose. Choose happiness and abundance.

5. The suggestions and statements of others have no power to hurt you. The only power is the movement of your own thought. You can choose to reject the thoughts or statement of others and affirm the good. You have the power to choose how you will react.

6. Watch what you say. You have to account for every idle word. Never say, “I will fail; I will lose my job; I can’t pay the rent.” Your subconscious cannot take a joke. It brings all these things to pass.

7. Your mind is not evil. No force of nature is evil. It depends how you use the power of nature. Use your mind to bless, heal, and inspire all people everywhere.

8. Never say, “I can’t.” Overcome that fear by substituting the following: “I can do all things through the power of my subconscious mind.”

9. Begin to think from the standpoint of the eternal truths and principles of life and not from the standpoint of fear, ignorance, and superstition. Do not let others do your thinking for you. Choose your own thoughts and make your own decisions.

10. You are the captain of your soul (subconscious mind) and the master of your fate. Remember, you have the capacity to choose. Choose life! Choose love! Choose faith! Choose happiness!

11. Whatever your conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, your subconscious mind will accept and bring to pass. Believe in good fortune, divine guidance, right action, and all the blessings of life.

To picture the end results in your mind causes your subconscious to respond and fulfill your mental picture.

Would you like to Conquer your Frustrations and be Creative?

image

There are levels of the mental life to which no exasperation or frustration can ascend. And peaceful thinking brings you to that mental level where nothing can bother you unduly.

Your ability to live successful is solely dependent on being able to conquer frustrations.

To conquer frustrations:

1. Decide that you honestly want emotional self-control.

2. Practice peaceful thinking. With practice you will find it easier, more natural.

3. Instead if letting frustration irritate you, try to understand other people objectively, what makes them the way they are.

4. Set apart a period of quietness daily.

5. Each day practice relaxing muscular tensions.

6. Before going to bed, flush out of your mind the bad emotions.

7. Look to God for help in substituting calmness for irritation.

8. Do the best you can and leave the results to God. Then it will work out for the best.

How to Keep the Magic of Enthusiasm Working for You

image

1. Enthusiasm is a word meaning full of God. So to have enthusiasm fill you minds full of God.

2. Life’s blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm. Only when enthusiasm cools is he likely to crack up.

3. If you are out of enthusiasm get reborn spiritually. That’s experience will make you come alive. Study the Bible text ” . . . . . . we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)

4. Everyday remind yourself of your own ability, of your good mind and affirm that you can make something really good out of your life.

5. Empty out old dead thoughts and be reborn in mind and spirit. Rebirth refreshments personality.

6. Have an eye for the charm and romance of life and practice aliveness.

7. To have enthusiasm simply practice being enthusiastic.

8. You can make yourself enthusiastic by affirming enthusiasm and by thinking, talking, acting enthusiastic.

9. Start and end every day and in between times too, by thanking God for everything.

10. Persevere in your search for God. When you find Him zest and enthusiasm will fill your mind to overflowing.

Live As If Your Father Were Dead.

image

A man must love his father and yet be free of his father’s expectations and criticisms in order to be a free man.

Imagine that your father has died or remember when he did die. Are there any feelings of relief associated with his death? Now that he is dead, is any part of you happy that you need not live up to his expectations or suffer his criticisms?

How would you have lived your life differently if you had never tried to please your father? If you never tried to show your father that you were worthy? If you never felt burdened by your father’s critical eye?

For the next three days, do at least one activity a day that you have avoided or suppressed because of the influence of your father. In this way, practice being free of his subtle expectations, which may now reside within your own self-judgement. Practice being free in this way, once each day for the next three days, even if you still free fearful, limited, unworthy or burdened by your father’s expectations.

How To Like Yourself – At Least Most Of The Time

image

1. Learn really to know and esteem yourself.

2. Cultivate a self you can trust and believe in.

3. Picture yourself as the kind of person you wish to be, affirm that you are that, then practice being it.

4. Keep some inspirational dissatisfaction as a goad to self-motivation. Complete self-liking dulls the drive factor.

5. Your self is well names. It’s yours for keeps. You are stuck with yourself.

6. Since you have to live with yourself it is important to develop a self that is pleasant to live with.

7. Love God and you will develop a normal respect and regard for yourself.

8. Learn to let God run your life. You will like the results better than your own self-management.

9. Be humble, be big in mind and soul, be kindly; you will like yourself that way and so will other people.

How to develop Tough-mindedness

image

To live in this particular world you have just got to be strong. Without strength you will be crushed or at least crumpled.

One thing everyone must learn is how to have what it takes to take it. The first thing is to develop some real good inner toughness.

image

Having what it takes to take it:

1. To live in this world you just have to be strong – or else. So start developing inner toughness or tensile strength of mind and spirit.

2. When the going gets tough, let the tough get going – you are tough.

3. Constantly re-emphasize to yourself the great fact that God built potential strength into your nature. By affirming it and practicing it, this basic strength will toughen up as muscles do.

4. Get yourself changed spiritually for real strength is not truculence. It is rather a God-like power reaction in which strong Christ-like gentleness is an important factor.

5. Reverse your mental image of yourself as being weak to a clear picture of yourself as being strong. Then hold that concept firmly in consciousness until it takes with you.

6. Practice until you master it; then keep practicing to keep it, the powerful creative thought that you can if you think you can.

7. Become a possibilitarian. No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see the possibilities – always see them, for they are always there.

8. Know for a fact that with God’s help you can take what you have to take like a man.

9. Remember: what you think you will become – good or bad, weak or strong, defeated or victorious.

Norman Vincent Peale.

How to be Successful and Happy and What’s Wrong With That?

image

Earl Nightingale once said: “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.” In other words, the goal has to be worthy of your time and efforts.

From testimonials and research, my “modern” idea of success is to be successful as a person which means integrated and controlled within yourself, and integrated and controlled in your relationships.

To be successful is to be organized, quiet, assured, philosophical, urbane, confident, and courageous. (All of that, no less.) It is to be outgoing, helpful, concerned, caring, and constructive. (All adjectives which apply.)

It is to give of yourself and of what you possess for social ends. In short, you might say it is to make everything and everyone you touch a little bit better. If you don’t do these things, if you are not these things, you’re no success, that’s for sure.

Attaining Success and Happiness:

1. Have absolutely no sense of guilt about being happy and successful if you operate honestly and with a sense of social responsibility.

2. Get the modern idea of success which is to be successful as a person.

3. Read and study the Bible as a practical guide to successful living.

4. Don’t write off the importance of hard work, the guts to keep at it, a definite goal and the ability to have fun in the process. Of there’s no fun in it, something’s wrong with all you’re doing.

5. Use your head. Without that you will never get ahead.

6. Keep enthusiastic and love what you are doing.

7. Keep relaxed. Don’t tense up no matter what, for you only close off creative power when you do. The relaxed man is the powerful man.

8. Have quiet times regularly and practice the “feel” of God, your Creator, re-creating you.

9. Visualize the kingdom of God as in you. See yourself as the potential possessor of God’s bounty.

10. Eliminate – and this is very important – eliminate your capacity for self-destructiveness.

Norman Vincent Peale.

11 Steps to develop Your Belief System

image

Every individual forms his own estimate of himself and that basic estimate goes far toward determining  what he becomes. You can do no more than you believe you can. You can be no more than you believe you are. Belief stimulates power withing yourself. Have faith in faith. Don’t be afraid to trust faith.

How to Believe:

1. Believe

2. As you train your mind to believe, everything tends to move out of the area of the impossible into that of the possible.

3. Never compare yourself or your achievements with others, but make your comparisons only with yourself.

4. A sign of mental health is to be glad when others achieve, and to rejoice with them.

5. Failure lies in not being naïve enough to practice the power of faith

6. Make your life what you want it to be through belief in God and in yourself.

7. Start living by faith, pray earnestly and humbly, and get into the habit of looking expectantly for the best.

8. Get your life right in terms of God’s laws.

9. Be sure your goals are spiritually sound.

10. Think, believe, and visualize success

11. Keep on believing as long as you live.
